What comes to your mind when you hear Top Best Animated Movies? The answers will be unlike because different people have perceived the phrase differently. Some might think about the cartoon movies from their childhood like classic Disney movies, while others may automatically drift towards reconstructions of their favored comic-book epics. There are some that may still consider the appeal of anime movies when they hear animated movies. Whatever the differences are, there is one common feature: they lack live-action components. But the thrill, excitement, and emotions depicted in these animated (cartoon, whatever you name it!) movies are no less when compared to live-action movies or feature film.

Keeping in mind, this broad pool of animated movies, Netflix has a huge collection in its library. Don’t worry! You should not go through all of the movies in Netflix library because we are here for you; we have combed through Netflix to bring to you this section which contains something for everyone: Oscar-nominated animations, Disney’s Cartoon movies, best anime movies, Comic books animations, new animated movies, and classic Kids movies. So here is the list of best-animated movies for 2019 streaming right now on Netflix.

11 Best Animated Movies You Should Watch in 2020

  1. The Last Unicorn (1982)

    Best Animated Movies

The Last Unicorn is a touching fancy top-notch animation movie that both the adults and children should find alluring, for it is sweet, scary, pleasing, and even sardonic at times, as it trails a unicorn on her trip to find her adrift brothers, who were presumably pushed out of existence by an insane king who controls a red bull. The Last Unicorn is a beautiful and strange story of loss, magic, and love having a sincerely unique delicacy.

    [adinserter block=”4″]

This episodic narrative, though, pitched at a level of children movie, injects a huge amount of elegance and pathos into a typical journey of a hero through a wonderfully written script. The voice actors bring soul to the distinct animation of the movie, and legend Jimmy Webb does wonders with the composition of the score performed by the band America. The Last Unicorn is surely going to be a rare delight for the lovers of fantasy!!

  2. The Secret of NIMH (1982)

    Best Animated Movies 2017

The Secret of NIMH holds an interesting premise, an out-and-out scarcity among animated cartoon feature films. Here it comes in the form of a group of laboratory rats that were injected with a trial drug making them as intelligent as human beings. Smart animals in the plot is not a unique feature but what makes this movie stand out among other such animated movies is that the story covers itself with a problem of having a superior intelligence while being rats. This story is perfectly connected with a sad situation of Mrs. Brisby, a little-widowed mouse, whose ill child is bullied by the closing in of the tilling appliance.

The movie is the first one from Don Bluth after leaving Disney and is truly the first Disney kind of movie made outside of Disney, where conventional tools and methods were favored so that the quality of animation is not compromised. The Secret of NIMH is made the “Old School Disney” way and is still on top of the list of original cartoon movies to hit the big screens. A top rated animated movie to watch!!

  3. Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King (2012)

    Best Anime Movies 2017

Netflix is noticeably light on the anime features when compared to some other streaming platforms present out there – although it does have a very impressive list of anime programs. Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King is surely one of the best anime movies because of its dark fantasy tale influenced by Gothic Europe which features top-notch heroes and villains, their bloody battles, and more substantial folklore than the most modern animated features. The story also contains the twists and turns of political scheming and personal longing that sprints within the plot.

The story is taken from the manga series from Miura, which follows Guts, an isolated mercenary and his relation with Griffith, the chief of Band of the Hawk, the company of mercenaries. This movie is however only a part of this Berserk story, and if you observe yourself craving for more, then you can check out the two follow-ups, the 1997 animated series, or the new best-animated movies 2017 of this series.

Absolutely must-watch for the anime lovers out there!!

  4. Fantasia (1940)

    Cartoon Movies 2017

Fantasia is clearly one of the most fascinating and unique feature films Disney ever produced. This movie is an assemblage of eight sections weaved together through traditional music conducted by Leopold Stokowski and performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra. The only thing that went wrong for this awesome cartoon movie is that it was released at the time of world war (1940) so, the box office collection revealed failure at the moment, but the growing fan base in the coming years after its multiple re-releases show how incredible the movie is.

Watching Fantasia for the first time will certainly be an unmatched experience, nostalgia, a sweet ride through the waves of emotions when you see your favorite cartoon characters in their early form; this animated movie is what you make of it. You might already be closely acquainted with the sequence of Mickey Mouse – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and as for the rest sequences, you can just let it glide you away. You may find some sections connecting better than the rest, but to be fair, each section is extremely extraordinary in its national nature.

  5. The Little Prince (2015)

    New Animated Movies

Not every day, you will get a chance to see a new animated movie adapted from everyone’s darling story like The Little Prince, but kudos to Netflix for making this movie available for streaming anywhere anytime. Of course, a big chunk of thanks must be directed towards the cast and crew of this movie for bringing this time-defying story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry into life so, that the whole new peer group can now relish this classic tale. Though the movie is not a line-to-line translation of this classic story, it does pay reverence to the fan-favorite characters and sequences.

The Snake, The Rose, and The Fox are all brought to life through the diverging animation techniques that bring a new fold to a familiar tale. The Little Prince is honestly a movie within a movie; the fanciful, delicate story is wrinkled into a modernist, harsh narration on conformity and depersonalization in the modern workplace. If you have never read The Little Prince or seen none of its adaptations throughout the years, this new animated movie is a great place to initiate.

  6. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

    Top Animated Movies

If you have stayed away from this movie just because every girl (of course, the nerdy ones too) rides for it, we can understand completely, but before you skip this movie here too, hear us out at the first place. The Nightmare Before Christmas established a whole new generation to some astonishing stop-motion animation. The movie has become a conventional Christmas movie of its own. Oh! Wait – Halloween movie? Holidays movie? Ok, just watch the movie whenever you want!

This top animated movie, directed by Henry Selick, follows a skeleton – Jack Skellington, who lives in the Halloween Town and opens a portal to the Christmas Town. The adventure of this skeleton trying to get his sinister town to undertake the more cheerful holiday is hilariously presented in the movie. The story is a haunting distortion on the traditional sugary sweet Christmas that we usually follow, and this makes The Nightmare Before Christmas a startling, original movie worth watching.

  7. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

    Cartoon Films 2017

The DC Animated Universe’s consistency in developing quality animated features and series year after year has been propelled after Batman: The Animated Series. One of the recent animated films that have been drawn from the books of DC Comics is Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, and it’s comparable as good as some awesome live-action story in the recent years. Based on the crossover comic “Flashpoint” by Andy Kubert and Geoff Johns, the movie includes a fortune of voice-acting flair having plenty of experience, and some superb animations.

The movie pivots on Barry Allen, alias The Flash, who goes back in time to save his mom and in doing so, completely varies the future. There is no Justice League in this altered universe, the superheroes are fighting each other, and yes, the timeline is messed up! Now, it is up to The Flash to undo all the harm this mess up has created and regain his powers, though this distorted version of actuality may not be the only thing to result from the meddling of The Flash. This dark, emotional, and stunningly edited DCAU styled animation movie is perhaps the most significant Justice League movie till date.

  8. Mary and Max (2009)

    New Cartoon Movies

Mary and Max, a claymation movie from Australia is surely not for the kids because it deals with depression, alcoholism, autism, and restrained sexuality (only naming few). Thus, it truly is an animated movie for adults. As the movie starts, we can see a lonely young girl Mary living with her alcoholic mother in Australia who starts a pen-pal relation with a boy Max from New York. This relation between the two grieved people forms the soul of this heart-rending dramedy, about the complexity of interconnection and the tangles of the heart.

You will have to put a substantial amount of effort to learn that the story you went all misty-eyed and weak-kneed over was a drop of a superbly directed plasticine. Director Adam Elliot does exceed every imaginable expectation with a beautiful, deeply emotional yet, witty animation movie which explores the intrinsic connection a human need.

  9. World of Tomorrow (2015)

    Top Animated Movies

This 17-minute short animated science fiction movie directed, written, produced, edited, and animated by Don Hertzfeldt transfers arguably more of the melancholy, singularity, and lonesomeness of this world governed by futuristic technologies than any other movies of recent times. World of Tomorrow portrays young Emily, where she gets the chance of speaking to her older self (putting it more precisely, to the ordinal clone of her future self). The advancing get-along through the time and space really becomes an ideal canvas for the innovative brand of animation of Hertzfeldt, which greatly uses the minimalistic drawing and video covering for evoking the sheer oddness and disorientation of the world envisioned by Hertzfeldt.

This top-rated animated movie explores the world that the new technologies will bring without disregarding the emotional senselessness and mayhem that will persist, and likely exacerbate, as time passes by. One of the best movies of 2015 (although being a 17-minute animation), World of Tomorrow is a bittersweet memory of a future self of a young girl contacting her to explain the wonderful and weird technologies of the future at a time when the world is going to end!

  10. The House of Small Cubes (2008)

    List of 2017 Animation Movies

The House of Small Cubes is an Oscar winner for Best Animated Short Movie. A 12-minute short animated movie, but the time is more than enough to drag you into its heart-pinching story. An old man decides to move up rather than move on, by adding bricks to increase the house level so that he can save his house from submerging in the ever-rising flow of water. As he adds levels, a search for a dropped smoking pipe compels him to revive his memories as he goes past each of the floors through the depths of his home.

This wordless short movie develops a gripping world very swiftly with a distinctive flair of animation. The House of Small Cubes provides a few glances on the life of this old man, but it’s ample to treasure his life and character as it unrolls in reverse. This short film is about the undying effect of time on the life—how it can devour the past completely, and how everyone must thrive to continue moving onward in spite of what has happened already.

  11. It’s Such a Beautiful Day (2012)

    Top 10 Animated Movies

One more Don Hertzfeld’s movie! You just can’t put him out. Can you? If you have already watched his 2015 short animated movie World of Tomorrow, you will know the empathy he can squeeze from the simple geometry and the completely developed world of character and personality within such elements. It’s Such a Beautiful Day is constructed from three associated short stories, and as hilarious as it may seem, it is equally devastating, synchronizing with the Hertzfeld’s style of using beautiful descriptive structures and trimmed aesthetics to tell melancholic stories that rarely seem all that melancholic.

It’s Such a Beautiful Day is a black comedy-drama animated movie where a stick-figured Bill steers a weird world which is made weirder by a brain that rebuffs to let him be, approaching to grabs with mental illness, depression, and, eventually, death. Only after realizing (which you will) that the thing that just pierced your heart was just a made-up stick-figure cartoon, the brilliance of Hertzfeldt would become lucid.

This is where we end our list of Best Animated Movies recently streaming on Netflix. We might have missed some of the awesome movies on this list, and if we have done so, please, let us know by mentioning your favorite animation movies in the comment section!!

What do you do to get the adrenaline rush? Maybe go for skiing or a bungee jump? A roller coaster ride? A long trip? Take a picture of your girl when she is not ready (if you don’t think this will get your adrenaline pumping, try this when she is already mad at you, and you don’t have a clue, why)? You are sure to lose an enormous amount of cash on these things and well you may as well forget the relation on the later one!

If you don’t want to be robbed off your pocket and relationship may be, then you can just log in to your Netflix account and watch some good action Netflix movies. If you get images of wild gun encounters, apparently impossible car hunts, puffed biceps, and a very simple storyline, then it’s high time you watch some good action movies with plenty of pyrotechnics and superb emotional punch within the gripping storyline. This genre is much more nuanced in every aspect as the movies in this list of must-watch Action Movies on Netflix illustrate. Ready with your popcorns?

Firstly, check out our list of Good Action Movies on Netflix that you should not miss.

10 Best Action Movies on Netflix You Must Watch

  1. Lethal Weapon

    Action Movies on Netflix

Lethal Weapon brings us the mother of all best-buddies cop pairings in an exemplary character of Riggs and Murtaugh. This legendary pair of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover ruled the theaters with this four-movie franchise. But it was the first one that is said to have set a standard for the entire genre. Both the characters hated working in pairs, but later rule out their difference to stop a group of drug smugglers, not entirely unfamiliar, eh? Lethal Weapon is surely a trend-setter. Though there was cop partnership filmed before, not quite like in here. This movie became the prototype and set the stage so that all other movies could be judged.

    [adinserter block=”4″]

The pace of the film never slows during the entire period, the jokes are perfectly timed, and the stunts are shown never disappoint – exactly what an action movie freak dreams of in the movies he watches.

  2. Ip Man

    Action Movies on Netflix

Finally, it was the moment when the relatively excellent but never truly regarded Donnie Yen rose to his own with Ip Man in 2008, where he plays the character of the legendary grandmaster himself in a loosely biographical version. Ip Man was the master of Wing Chung, a martial art technique and taught some future martial arts legends, Bruce Lee is one of them.

This film dates back to 1930s in Foshan, a city which is famous for its martial arts in the southern/central China, where the modest master of Wing Chun tries to oppose the Japanese invasion and capture of China peacefully. However, he was eventually forced into heroic action by the Japanese martial arts trainers and other officials. What follows is a crazy, face-pulverizing, and limb-breaking action. This film is a historical one which succeeded gloriously both as a cinema and as a martial arts fan-lure.

  3. Scarface

    Action Movies to Watch

It’s another very good action movie on Netflix. The rise and fall of Brian De Palma’s Scarface resonate with the performance of Al Pacino – sometimes aggressive, sometimes over the top, teeth-gnashing, and scenery-chewing. While most people find it brilliant, there are some who find this movie unforgivably flamboyant. And to most of the detractors’ hopes who prayed for Pacino’s role to be internal and a really low key; the Tony Montana of this movie is above all, a performance character, a man who existed gloriously just to be himself. And you know what? Al Pacino does wonder with his role (maybe no surprises here).

From the opening to the closing shots, Montana (and eventually Pacino) drives to impress his personality and impose his wills on others. He starts his journey with no weapons, no resources, except for his charisma of faking other powerful men by merely seeming resourceful and dangerous. This character of the bluff needed no-nonsense play and who other than Al Pacino for the role. Montana is a character who has inspired and shaped personal styles for countless other people. And according to Jay Robert Nash, a crime expert, early Hollywood crime films influenced American gangsters to talk and behave, then well the preceding sentence bears no flaw. Scarface has been too often borrowed into other situations and the plot that it is tough to understand how original the movie was back when it was released for the first time, the time when Latin actors were rare, when sequences of the final gun battle were not a cliché and when cocaine was not a commonplace. Unlike most gangster movies that are more focused on action than personality, Scarface is the film which is willing to take the flaws and evils in a man and still allow him to be a human.

Scarface is a cult classic with, maybe, one of the most famous echoes from any of the gangster movies – “Say hello to my little friend.” If you are from the early 90s and even younger, then you might never know how original the movies were in the past if you don’t watch Scarface. Now either do watch the film or pretend to have watched it.

    Cheers!

  4. V for Vendetta

    Good Action Movies on Netflix

V for Vendetta, written by Wachowski brothers and based on Alan Moore comic for DC, is not just a typical action movie. V for Vendetta not only has the ambition to excite but also to inspire its viewers. In a draconian future, a masked man V who is mysteriously full of vengeance, speaks about liberty and integrity. The idea he presents is vague, but the plans he makes are very specific – they involve dynamite explosion. Unlike other rebellious movies which have no convincing conclusion, V for Vendetta stands out – it has a finite purity of spirit.

V is always seen wearing a mask, and neither he nor the film-makers show what’s behind the mask. And this is a decision everyone should respect because the mask is just an anonymous representation of the fury of ordinary people who have grown frustrated with the political or social failure. Natalie Portman stars as Evey Hammond who is a critical image of humanity in V played by Hugo Weaving. Even though the ideas presented in the movie are muddled, the movie is quite a thrill to watch.  Remember, remember! The fifth of November.

  5. Full Metal Jacket

    Action Films Netflix

Stanley Kubrick, more than any other American director, pays little focus to the on-going fashion, keeping to his ways to create fantastic visions that, in one way or another, are the displaced extensions of the society we know but don’t want to recognize. Full Metal Jacket is a beautiful but harrowing eccentric view about Vietnam eccentrically that will puzzle, anger and fascinate viewers. Whenever you think that you can now relax with the storyline, some insane image or event will wave around to position itself in mind and interrupts the emotions – this movie plots series of exploding boomerangs.

The film imparts quite an astonishing thought: The only thing worse than a disorder in the universe is not to recognize it. Virtually the order of the movie is the disorder, where the central character, Private Joker played by Matthew Modine, the narrator of the story, wears a symbol of peace on his battle fatigues and the slogan “Born to Kill” on his helmet.

We can find disorder in the structure of the movie itself, as Full Metal Jacket can be divided into two facets. On first look, these parts may seem so different to each other tone wise, and we may even get the feeling that these two parts have been made by two different directors, two distinct camera operators covering two separate screenplays; only the actors being the same. Full Metal Jacket not only provided an apex to Modine’s career, but it also builds its situation for being one of the best war movies to have been ever made.

  6. Django Unchained

Top Rated Action Movies on Netflix

You can say that Quentin Tarantino believes, with full confidence, in what he is doing and this character is the best as well as the worst thing about Tarantino. Sometimes his belief will disorganize the plot and ultimately the film as in Death Proof, but in most cases, has produced wonders like Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds. Django Unchained lies somewhere in the middle; however, it is his most ambitious one, and that means quite a lot for a director of his stature.

This movie highlights his style of mixing violence and humor, where the main protagonist, Django (Jamie Foxx) is unchained by a dentist cum bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) so that Django could help him track down the three outlaw brothers. In addition to the freedom of Django himself, he is assured of the freedom of his wife from a plantation owner Calvin Candice (Leonardo DiCaprio). While all of them played their characters beautifully, DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson (as Stephen, the head slave of Calvin) stood out on their performance. This movie is successful in paying homage to the spaghetti western inspiration and disorganizing the source content with sharp performances, poignant brutality, as well as fascinating characters.

  7. Braveheart

    Action Movies list 2017

Braveheart is a 1995 classic in which Ben Gibson, the director himself plays the role of a Scotsman, William Wallace who leads the revolt against the ruling British governance during the 13th century, but mind it, Gibson is only filming the myth here and not the history. Braveheart is a full-throated, cold-blooded heroic tale of the legendary Scot, and contains scenes surely not for the faint hearts. It is an aspiring movie, beautifully portraying simple sentiments like love, treachery, and patriotism, but avoids being the travelogue tale of a legend which only a few historical adventures could manage to do. The location on the film looks wet, green, vast, rugged, and muddy and perfectly fits the plot.

As his body was laid on the rack, Wallace dying whimper was “freedom,” which is not based on the fact exactly because this “freedom” (relating to personal liberty, in the movie) was not much an important concept around 1300. But it didn’t stop Gibson from using this as the last cry, and boy this helped! Because it aids to the grand sweep of the Braveheart, a swordplay vintage in Hollywood. The battle scenes from the film, which are quite frequent and violent, are going to be forever remembered by the viewers because it does a brilliant job of assembling men and horses in the war scene of large scale and is technically a top fit.

And for those who are still not motivated to watch this movie, there is a fact about the film that must be shared – Braveheart was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won in 5 of them. So, all the best to get involved in the picturesque placidity and obsequious ferocity of 13th century Scotland.

  8. Reservoir Dogs

    Best Action Movies

If you are surprised to see Quentin Tarantino for the second time in this list, hold yourself back because there is more to come!

Reservoir Dogs, a Tarantino movie is a cinematic triumph, and only few will argue if we say this movie well may be the most successful independent one to have ever been produced. The credit of introducing Tarantino’s style of brutal storytelling must be given to this movie, no matter how controversial this style may seem. Reservoir Dogs is a densely-packed story of six thieves who have been assembled to pull off the perfect diamond robbery, and the heightening tensions and paranoia, the imploding questions to each other’s guilt as things deviate from their plan.

The movie is stuffed with mercurial dialogues and references of the then pop-culture, Reservoir Dogs is an infinitely watchable performance. Mr. Blonde, Mr. Brown, Mr. Blue, Mr. Pink, Mr. Orange, and Mr. White are still the most widely searched and loved criminals of a “famous diamond heist.” Sharp dialogues, Tarantino’s trademark of non-linear storytelling, vicious violence and off course some notable soundtracks – here it goes, Reservoir Dogs for you streaming on the Netflix.

  9. Gladiator

    Top Action Movies

Ridley Scott’s Gladiator won five Oscars, and there is no reason to why it should have never won all these along with other numerous awards. The movie has a visually stunning and emotionally draining depiction of Maximus Decimus Meridius on his quest to revenge his loved ones. The story begins with the murder of Marcus Aurelius by his son Commodus, and on this quest of gaining the supreme power, he also had to kill Maximus. But with the successful escape of Maximus, Commodus ends up killing his wife and son – gutted and wounded, he is picked for slavery and chosen to fight as the gladiator, giving rise to an ultimate story of revenge.

Ridley Scott, a man of visual panache, makes everything in this movie utterly glorious and presents the events on a candidly grand canvas of strained light and vintage landscapes. Equally good is the cinematography, which depicts the flesh-tearing and bone-crushing horrors of the clash and the Royal immorality of second-century Rome in an unusual manner. What adds to the greatness of this movie? Russell Crowe in the lead role with his career-best performance.

Four words for you – Are You Not Entertained?!

  10. Pulp Fiction

    New Action Movies on Netflix

We have already hinted that more of Tarantino is coming, and with Pulp Fiction, here he comes again with a bang – greatest Tarantino accomplishment to date. Tarantino doesn’t care if he tears up the plot, as long as the audiences are enjoying – Pulp Fiction is a comedy about guts, blood, strange sex, drugs, violence, fixed fights, leather freaks, dead body disposal, and a wristwatch that can make a dark trip through generations. The movie is a nonlinearly constrained in such a way that you will not be able to recall what is coming next even if you have watched the film a dozen times.  It intertwines four stories of brutality and vindication through the lives of two hit men, a gangster’s wife, a boxer, and a pair of diner muggers.

Pulp Fiction, the King Kong of crime movies, is fiercely amusing without a trace of observation, smugness, or political correctness in it’s 154 delightfully brilliant minutes. Very few Netflix movies have been able to capture such an affluent of a linked crime community through its playful plot structure. This masterly written and profoundly cool movie would make the top spot for most quotable crime movies for a long time to come. Tarantino, you genius!!

11 Best Kids Movies 2020

  1. Mulan (1998)

    Best Kids Movies

Mulan, a captivating Disney animation movie, has a story that provides an energizing change in the conventional portrayal of the female characters. It is one of the most exciting animated movies of Disney which retells an ancient folktale of China about a young woman who disguises as a man and battles against the enemies in place of her disabled father so that he could not get killed in the war. These actions raise her to the rank of heroic figure. The ancestors of Mulan who are watching over her send a dragon called Mushu to stop Mulan from fighting in the war. Mushu could not persuade her to pull out of the war, however, and so, decides to assist her in the fierce battle instead.

Mulan is a film that adults can relish on their own, without bearing obligation to pull the kids as a cover. This movie familiarizes the children with the Chinese art, history, culture, and architecture; Mulan will plant in them the seed of reverence of one’s ancestor, history, and the importance of honor. Mulan is majestic attainment, with a story and its treatment making it comparable with “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Lion King.”

  2. Finding Dory (2016)

    Best Movies For Kids

Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory is a spin-off to Pixar’s hugely successful 2003 movie Finding Nemo, where everyone’s dearest forgetful blue colored tang Dory sets to meet her parents which she was separated from because of her poor memory and of course her dismal memory, with the help of Nemo and Marlin. The trio makes this life-changing adventurous trip of reuniting Dory with her family, and on this course, they find magic within their imperfections, friendships, and family. It is also the 4th highest grossing animated movies (up to 2017 Jan) making more than One billion US dollars at the box office.

    [adinserter block=”4″]

In addition to the thrill and excitement this movie provides, it also gives a brilliant education to kids about family values, the importance of teamwork, friendship and about creating their identity. The powerful blend of fun and emotions in the movie makes it a worth watching one, and because it is an animated kids film, Kids will absolutely love it!

  3. First Position (2011)

    Children Movies

First Position is a dance documentary that follows six young ballet dancers as they prepare for competing in the largest student ballet scholarship contest in the world, Youth America Grand Prix in New York City. This documentary by Bess Kargman will have you on the edge of your seat clapping and cheering for its young subjects as they vigorously train in the hopes of winning scholarships to leading dance schools, or a chance to get a placement in a professional ballet company. Not each of these featured dancers gets to win some big prizes, but given the sear dedication and labor (not to forget the painful injuries) these children have put on, they are definitely all winners.

First, Position makes you believe that pure dedication and hard work is the ultimate pathway to success – a lesson which can inspire children of all ages. The undeviating focus of the kids will be more relatable to the teens; however, even the younger kids will find this movie enjoyable and inspiring. When the movie is over, you will not remember so much about the characters that won and that lost. Instead, the thing that remains is the utterance on the face of a young dancer, reflected in a mirror: portraying the joy of falling in love with the things you do.

  4. Tarzan (1999)

    Good Movies For Kids

Tarzan is clearly one of the best Disney movies of all time, because of its solid narrative, and excellent soundtrack, also because Tarzan reflects a myth, a notion that this planet is a common ground for all the humans and the animals. On the surface, the movie is about adventures, comedy, and movement, but underneath it, is something different something serious. A daring man (as most of the Tarzan related movies have always focused on) asks something like – “Why are you threatened by anything different than you?”, something you should always teach yours’ children about!

The movie covers an exotic story of a boy who is raised in the wild by the monkeys after his parent’s death, and he experiences his first human interaction when a group of explorers visits the island. Unlike some ordinary animated movies, Tarzan is about things other than adorable characters and jolly songs, and it speaks closer to the heart of the younger kids, who, like Tarzan himself, surely must have faced times when they experienced being surrounded by tall, grumbling, and repressive bipeds.

  5. The Secret of Kells (2009)

    Best Kids Movies Netflix

The Secret of Kells explores the magical story of a young Irish boy and has received wide praise from the critics because of its uniquely delightful storytelling methods and the storyline itself; a glittering gem in a limitless library of kids’ movies available for streaming on Netflix.

The main character in the story is Brendan, a young boy whose village is repeatedly under the attacks of the Barbarians. When a master of medieval illumination comes to the remote land where Brendan lives from the island of Iona, his life changes for forever. The enigmatic illuminator possesses a magical book which needs to be completed, and Brendan makes this task the purpose of his life. But will he have the courage and wisdom to overcome the challenges that come across this purpose and will he be able to stop the barbarian invasions in this area?

This Oscars nominated animated movie is more appropriable to mature kids, old enough to manage with the cartoon violence, where they will get to learn about the tradition of Irish people, legends, illuminated manuscripts, and about the friendship which is required at every step in the quest of life journey.

  6. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

    New Kids Movies 2017

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a perfect example of the movies that gets created once in a blue moon, for it is an immense dare to the moviemakers; they will have to cope with the pressure of setting up a good movie while innovating a new technique at the same time.  It is the first movie which combines animated toon characters and real actors in the same period and makes this innovation look real.

The plot includes Hollywood of 1947, where humans and cartoon characters exist together. Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins), a private detective who is hired by R.K. Maroon (Alan Tilvern), the cartoon producer for investigating an adultery affair involving Jessica (Kathleen Turner), the sexy wife of his biggest star Roger Rabbit (Charles Fleischer). After the mysterious murder of Marvin Acme (Stubby Kaye), alleged lover of Jessica, the plot takes a turn.

The movie is pure, spellbound entertainment from beginning to the end – a goofy, giddy, joyous celebration that you wished a movie provided for your entire family, of course, the kids are going to love this.

  7. Fantasia (1940)

    Good Children Movies

Fantasia was a flop when it hit the theaters in 1940 (followed the path that early Disney film paved. Actually, three of the five first movies failed miserably at the box office). But what can’t be neglected is that it is the perfect harmony of art and music which also featured some of the supreme and iconic images in animation. The most famous appearance of Mickey Mouse and its closing scene is why the movie has the most solid passage in the animation. Though musty at times, Fantasia is a pivotal part of animation history – conceptually dashing and experiment-wise flawless.

The movie weaves eight animated segments to various pieces of classical music performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra and conducted by Leopold Stokowski. Fantasia is experimentation of fairy sequences using the array of techniques for getting the desired effects, focuses not only on straightforward and tradition animation but also on attaining other special effects too. The output may seem effortless magic, only a few know the level of work that the creators have put on and most importantly, it connects very fast with the kids!!

  8. Microcosmos (1996)

    Kids Movies 2017

Microcosmos, directed by Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou, is a documentary which provides a closer look over at the insect world using microscopic cameras. Battle of the beetles, spider hunting the preys, flowers blooming and snails kissing are captured very detailly and smaller kids, being the close observers of the ants, caterpillars, spiders, and butterflies since their childhood, find this movie stunning and fascinating. The narration is very brief at the beginning of the movie, and the complete scenario is a trip through thriving landscapes that capture the insect world business.

This movie is a work of creativity and fancy as much as the one of science. Although using the only a handful of words, Microcosmos is generous in its sense of music and sound effects which dramatizes the relentless struggle for survival going on in pastureland in France. The movie is sometimes whimsy, sometimes sad, sometimes scary but at all times, and the movie is captivating, unique and beautiful which might make some folks to think before crushing a defenseless insect mercilessly.

  9. How to Train Your Dragon Legends (2014)

    Most Watched Kids Movies

How to Train Your Dragon Legends (How to Train Your Dragon II) is a critically acclaimed and business wise successful movie and was the recipient of various prestigious awards. A 3D animated film of the first order sets to a fantasy land of heroes and dragons which are certain to delight children of all ages; a movie full of enchantment, action, and adventure based on Cressida Cowell’s series of books. The movie, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film (to name a few), is a sequel to a 2010 super-hit movie How to Train Your Dragon.

The two prime characters of this movie, Hiccup and his loyal dragon Toothless find an ice cave, a home to hundreds of other dragons, along with the Dragon Rider. Drago Bludvist, a cruel tyrant, seeks to defeat the world, and Hiccup and Toothless with other friends will have to fight not only Drago himself but also his ruthless army of men and dragons. Jay Baruchel voices Hiccup, Randy Thom, voices Toothless whereas Djimon Hounsou voices Drago. To be honest, both parts of How to Train Your Dragon is a must watch for the kids and family (if available on Netflix).

  10. Zootopia (2016)

    Children Movies in Netflix

Anthropomorphized Animal characters have been a mediocre subject in the animated movies these days, but viewing Zootopia as only humanized pictures will be a grave error because it is vivacious and has a sharper content about the class and race in the present milieu. Judy, the first rabbit in the police department quickly come across the difficulties in implementing rules in Zootopia, a land of various cultures and customs. She takes up a weird case to prove herself, and in this journey, she is assisted (troubled, whatever you call) by Nick Wilde, a clever fox.

What kids will learn from this movie is the importance of tender friendships, teamwork, and the unity in diversity, the pop music interludes and some witty jokes are the trademarks of this movie. Pliable kids and the progressive adults, both take something with them from this gorgeous and funny movie. At a time, when animal stories are thought to have lost their charm, Zootopia defies all the odds with a vibrant and diverse plot.

  11. Children of Heaven (1997)

    Kids Movies 2017

If you think your kid is old enough to watch a movie with subtitles then, your search ends here because there is hardly any movie better for the kids than this Iranian movie nominated for Oscars for Best Foreign Film. This movie follows two poverty-stricken siblings Ali and Zahra after the brother loses the pink shoes of his sister in the market. Then they decide to share Ali’s shoes so that their parents who are already struggling with the financial problems would not have to worry about one more thing. Ali participates in the footrace for the poor kids of the quarter so that he could win the third prize for a new pair of sneakers which he would give to his sister. He doesn’t care about the first prize or the second; he desperately wants to be placed third.

The race and its result will be as rousing for most of the kids as anything they have ever witnessed in the movies. Children of Heaven lacks the smart-mouth attitudes and the cynicism of the American entertainment for the children these days, and glimmers with a good-hearted purity. This movie by Majid Majidi is very closely a perfect movie for the kids, and of course, the adults will love it, too.

The list of Best Movies for Kids on Netflix comes to an end. We hoped that we have covered all the good children movies on this list, but if you think that we have missed out some, please, do mention those movies in the comment section.

Weekend? Party and dates? If you still have not planned anything for your date night but you don’t want to ante up a small fortune on some overpriced dinner and a new release in a crowded theater having no privacy, here is what you should do: Order a dinner or if you want more romance then, cook something together, and just play one of the movies on this list of love movies on Netflix in your own apartment. A bosom meal to start, an amorous movie as per the mood and yes – the inevitable cuddle opportunity! Maybe you and your babe are not that much into some sappy romantic movies, but hey, it’s okay! You can, by all means, have a romantic night without even watching the movies of this genre, and you can check out the Top-rated movies on Netflix, Funny movies on Netflix, or maybe even the Best action movies on Netflix.

What is love? It’s different for different people, and thus, a romantic movie comes in all sort of ways so as to cover this wide range of definitions of love. From romantic comedy movies to some heartbreaking dramas, from gentle to wild, we have got you covered.

But to start, we want to dedicate this section to all the singles out there (for those in a relation, romance is something associated with you, so I guess you don’t need, no dedication), because it is okay to watch romantic movies even if you are single. Here goes, our list:

11 Top-Rated Romantic Movies On Netflix

  1. 50 First Dates (2004)

    Romantic Movies on Netflix

50 First Dates, by Peter Segal, radiates buoyant, but unfeigned emotions is a philosophical, romantic comedy which is about love that is eternal, if only for a day. Adam Sandler plays the role of Hawaiian Henry Roth, who wants to quit his womanizing life when he meets Lucy (Drew Barrymore), an immensely charming art teacher who encountered a horrific car accident which causes her to lose her memory after each night’s sleep. She remembers all the incidents before the accident but not a single bit of what has happened afterwards. Henry engages in many awkward wooing and Lucy is more of a sun-soaked orchid brought back to life. There are plenty of stunning moments of compassionate intimacy between the sporadic eye-roll that resonates with the honest giggles of a couple who are in so loving with every other. 50 First Dates is actually a sweet and sincere romantic movie despite its absurd premise, which makes us care ample about the characters in this idiotic plot. Sandler and Barrymore share palpable but amazing chemistry between them. The film also offers a different Adam Sandler, revealing the affable side of his persona, leaving behind the anger, hostility, and gross-out wittiness to which he has often been related.

  2. Love Actually (2003)

    Love Movies On Netflix

Love Actually is a dive in the pool of romantic comedy, which contains nine interweaved stories of some falling in love and others falling out of love. Richard Curtis, who has given us romantic films like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, and Bridget Jones Diary, comes out with his best of the lot Love Actually.

    [adinserter block=”4″]

This movie explores love from different aspects through several attractive individuals which includes the newly elected handsome British Prime Minister, David (Hugh Grant) who falls for a member of the household staff, Natalie (Martine McCutcheon), a graphic designer Sarah (Laura Linney) who embroils her love life because of her devotion towards her mentally unwell brother, and a married man Harry (Alan Rickman) who is enticed by his appealing new secretary. Love Actually is invariably warm and cheerful in spite of all these transverse stories in the plot – one perfect movie for the holidays and the weekends to be honest!!

  3. Y Tu Mamá Tambien (2001)

    Romantic Comedy Movies

Y Tu Mamá Tambien is a story of two teenage boys and their impulsive tour with a slightly older woman which involves sexual uncovering. It is about the two Mexicans, and also about the frailty of life and the certainty of death. Underneath this carefree movie (as advertised), there is one more serious level and beneath that, another dead serious level. The title of this movie translates to “And your Mama, too” where the stories are interlocked together in what is concealed or revealed within the plot and in the parallel milieu of poverty which the rich character moves through. Two Mexican teenagers Julio and Tenoch, one from a middle-class family, another from rich, are free when their girls go to Europe in the summer. They meet Luisa, the wife of a distant cousin and ten years older than them, at a wedding. After her husband cheats on her, Luisa unexpectedly agrees to go on a trip to Heaven’s Mouth, the legendary beach, as proposed by the boys. The two boys and a sexy and playful woman set out for this journey together where they will find out that they are not the only ones who are keeping secrets. This unconventional movie from Alfonso Cuarón contains vibrant and tender sexual nature which makes this one of the most thriving road films to have ever been made.

  4. Titanic (1997)

    Teenage Romance Movies

Romantic pictures never get the review they should get, and for a romantic drama to grab 11 Oscars, it must be extremely good. You may all have watched the movie once but going through this James Cameron movie once again will never deteriorate your mood. Titanic is a fiction movie which accounts the infamous tragedy that occurred in 1992 when the Titanic Cruise crashed into an iceberg and sunk on its trip to New York. The film is an epic fantasy populated by two lovers of a different class – Rose (Kate Winslet), an upper-class American woman and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), a poor person who boarded the ship through the lottery he won. What makes the movie more tragic is the searing chemistry between DiCaprio and Winslet, and because of this chemistry, the ultimate scene with a wooden plank on the sea is one of the most shattering situations you will ever witness on a movie. You will always have a question, however – Was not there enough space in the plank, though?

A must watch love movie for the couples!!

  5. Atonement (2007)

    Netflix Romantic Movies

Atonement, based on one grand novel by Ian McEwan of the same name, brings to us the heart tearing romance between an upper-class woman Cecilia Tallis (Keira Knightley), who is living in an English country house some years before the Second World War begins, and Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), the son of a helper working for the Tallis. In this complex love story between two repelling classes, there is another problem too – Briony (Saoirse Ronan), Cecilia’s cousin sister who also happens to have a teenage crush on Robbie. Briony, a 13-year-old, witnesses something she misunderstands because of her mixed reactions of shock and jealousy, tells a lie which destroys every possibility of joy in all three lives, which includes herself too. Atonement begins with joyous delicate wings and slowly sinks to an abyss of loss and tragedy. Joe Wright, the director, has a story in the McEwan novel which can hardly fail him, an ending which bemuses us with its indication and a cast that portrays the real emotions and elegance into the characters. This was meant to be a successful film, and rightly so. After watching the movie, you will be forced to question yourself – what do betrayal and atonement necessitate?

  6. Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

    Romance Movies

Wes Anderson, the director picks the nostalgic spirit of the East Coast Scout expeditions for this eccentric, symmetric and pubescent romantic comedy. The cucumber-cool Sam Shakusky (Jared Gilman) makes his way to an amorous sojourn into the wastelands with his mercurial lady love Suzy Bishop (Kara Hayward) after a break away from his weekend ensemble trip, and this makes the adult world to make a worried search for them. Anderson creates contrast on their simple and immediate love with a composite triangle circumscribing Laura Bishop (Frances McDormand), her husband Walt Bishop (Bill Murray) and a semi-depressed Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis). The director delights in every of his tiny triviality for creating an exacting summer fantasy and young love. The Moonrise Kingdom weaves a series of events to create a world driven by desires and emotions, which plots back to 1965, but the greatness is that this might as well be placed at any time and the aura remains the same. The movie is filled with definitive and active colors converting it to a soothing canvas of magical realism where we can find elegant and formal brilliance and various gentle but winning comedy. The understated gravity in the story makes us more involved in the fantasy world the Moonrise Kingdom creates.

  7. Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013)

    Top Romantic Movies

What is first love? Well, for everybody it’s quite the same – wet, fucked up and messes but the worst of it all, unforgettable. Blue Is the Warmest Color is as unforgettable as the topic it covers. The harrowing performances of Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux drive this movie to the frank but uncomfortable annals of a young girl’s (Exarchopoulos) journey of self-disclosure. And along the path, she falls in love and begins a lingering relation with another girl (Seydoux), you will get to witness this puppy love grow into the open water beyond the honeymoon phase (or, whatever you name it!). You can’t let this familiar premise fool you, because the winner of The Palme d’Or which is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival, is not straggly adult fare. Blue Is the Warmest Color is a vivid portrayal of the obsessive attachment, pain, and the zeal of the first love – and the void you are left with when this love is taken away from you. Abdellatif Kechiche’s movie starts with an imposing question – “How do you understand that the heart us missing something?” the answer you will get during the movie is emotionally shattering in this reflection of ecstasy and agony of real love. Based on Julie Maroh’s novel, it is the best comic-book film of the year having an excellent moving story.

  8. Annie Hall (1977)

    Most Watched Romantic Movies

Out of many movies that the great Woody Allen made over the years, Annie Hall most probably is his masterpiece. Woody Allen himself stars in the movie as Alvy Singer and Diane Keaton stars as Annie Hall, the main protagonist. This movie won Oscars for Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actress (Keaton), Best Picture, and it did something which is unthinkable today, edging out the Star Wars to win the Oscars for Best Picture in 1977. Alvy Singer is a TV writer having a strange viewpoint on life; he falls in love with a Midwestern woman, they date, but it did not seem to work, and thus, Alvy follows down a path of examining and questioning the way of life and a need for understanding. Annie Hall is an intelligent, unique, and amusing movie that has a poignant look at the highs and lows of a relationship and its effects on people. The greatness of this movie is its realism, quirkiness, and idiosyncrasy which reflects the sheer emotions coming from personal experiences. Central performances from Allen and Keaton deftly maps out the shift of the couple from the initial delving to terminal unreliability. Keaton stands out in this romantic comedy, but Allen cannot be overlooked as an actor because of his brilliant handling of Alvy’s insecurity, his sensitivity, and twisting. This remarkable restoration of an exhausted love affair is both melancholic and hysterically funny, there is abundant pain within the movie but the bountiful comedy sutures the raw edges.

    A must-watch romantic movie 2017 for everybody!

  9. The Princess Bride (1987)

    Love Movies on Netflix

The Princess Bride, a classic from Rob Reiner that looks at “true love” and never gets old is a fairytale felt about an elegant princess and the intrepid hero who extricates her from the iniquitous villain. In this movie, the vile persons are outplayed, true love overshadows perfidy, and a small boy realizes the power of pure imagination. This enchanting movie is a doughty romantic fantasy with sheer charm and superb humor which is hatched as a tale within a tale. It begins with a garrulous old grandfather (Peter Falk) making a visit to his sick 10-year-old grandson (Fred Savage). This new generation kid wants none of his Grandpa’s jolly bluster or his moldy book that bewitched boys from earlier generations in his family. But you can’t stop an old man from soothing (as per them) a sick child in the family. Can you? So, this prevailing grandfather reads aloud his stories about the behemoths, chases, escapes, pure love, and miracles, and briskly the kid is won over. The Princess Bride is an oft-told story about a lovely maiden Buttercup (Robin Wright) and her endearment for Westley (Cary Elwes), the boy from the ranch who is too pleased just to wish her with “as you wish”. Their estrangement takes this story to the presumed death of Westley at the hand of marauders, the engagement of Buttercup with treacherous Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon) and a valiant rescue mission. The adventure that follows is always gripping but what’s more, fun is the expressive dialogues in the movie, splendid performances from all the characters and the prolific cinematography of Adrian Biddle.

The Princess Bride is an enchanting classic where you are free to giggle or be thrilled, as per your wish, and a masterwork which an entire family will love to watch!!

  10. Amélie (2001)

    Best Love Movies to Watch

Amélie by Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a mouth-watering tart of a movie, a carefree fantasy in which an appealing protagonist overcomes her sad childhood to grow up into an altruist person and in becoming so provides much need joy to herself as well. When you think about this build-up later, you are surely going to smile. Audrey Tautou, a fresh face plays the role of the title character, the girl who starved for affection from her early days. Amélie, the waitress on a mission, assembles several schemes to utilize joy from strangers for making life happier of those surrounding her until when she realizes, it is she who needs a tonic for herself. The film is not suited for everyone. Even Cannes Film Festival rejected it from screening because some programmers tagged it “uninteresting”. Though being dismissed for being too mawkish, the film was able to conjure more than 30 million US dollars at the box office and making Amélie the most successful French movie on the American market. It is extremely hard to not tumble under a strong spell of this batty romance because Amélie is one of the once-in-a-decade romance comedies that scatters its glow like the pearls from a shattered necklace.

  11. Cinema Paradiso (1988)

    Top Rated Movies

Cinema Paradiso is what every director dreams of, for Giuseppe Tornatore – making that one great movie which will serve as his love letter to the artistic cinematic universe. Though the movie commences in the 80s, most of it is shown as a flashback of a filmmaker Toto who recalls the moments of his childhood when he fell in love with the movies and that friendship with Alfredo, the theater projectionist at the Cinema Paradiso. The greatness of this movie is appropriately reflecting the art of filmmaking and editing by incorporating this as its main story. To be honest, the movie bombed in its original Italian format at the box office, which was initially 155 minutes long but when it was released internationally, editor cut-off 31 minutes of it and it was an instant hit. This shorter version earned a Special Jury Prize at Cannes and won the Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film in 1990.

We know that love comes in different ways, here it comes as love about the movies, about friendship and this movie by the director of Malena, is one that you should not miss out!!

Here we rest our list of romantic movies on Netflix. We may have missed out on some of the cool Netflix movies that should have featured in this list. If we have, then please let us know by mentioning those in the comment section. And finally, enjoy every season of LOVE!!

What’s good on Netflix? Here we go!

11 Best Movies on Netflix

  1. The Jungle Book (2016)

    Best Movies On Netflix

When Disney announced the live-action remake of some of its classic animated movies for the first time, it was not enough to get us all excited because these stories have been read to us or by us for ages, we have seen various cartoons or animated series of the same. But to ours’ surprise, we have been impressed till now, and It’s hard to complain with The Jungle Book leading the pack. Director Jon Favreau has brought back life into this ancient story with a new thematic depth; he presents to us a rich and detailed world to explore. The cast of actors recruited for providing a voice to the vivid characters is universally excellent, and there is no reason not to be impressed with it. The Jungle Book features Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, and Ben Kingsley (a dream come true?), all playing big roles, and none showing any less enthusiasm. The Jungle Book is a powerful movie that symbolizes what to expect from Disney in the days to come.

  2. Boyhood (2014)

    Good Movies to Watch

When Boyhood was released in 2014, there were mixed opinions, a huge group of people who believed that it is the best movie of the year and another pretty intense backlash which labelled it ‘overrated and overlong.’ But whatever the fuss is, it is a must-watch for all the courage the filmmakers have shown and for the interesting experimentation achieved. Richard Linklater has filmed the movie over the course of Eleven long years, a film where you can see Ellar Coltrane, the main character grow up over the movie period, you can also see his parents (Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke) getting aged from a young couple to estranged old people. Watching the characters in the movie age is not what you often get, every other movie you watched used some special effects or cast multiple actors for the same role to present their ageing.

    [adinserter block=”4″]

Though the story is not that jaw-dropping or that heart-pinching, the sight of someone growing up will make you emotional, must probably nostalgic. Of all the achievements of Linklater, possibly he will be best remembered for his powerful depiction of time in this movie. Boyhood is intense in such a natural way that the weighty themes of the storyline feel complacent and effortless and It might make you sob for reasons you don’t know. Initially, the movie might seem underwhelming, because the story of this boy Mason is not extraordinary special, and there are no major twists or revelations either. But the beauty of this movie is that the moments here are not commented, they are just observed, the spirit is generous, there’s no melodrama like in soap-opera, there’s just a casual flow with time. By the time the movie ends, Mason will still be living his life, and there will be no grand resolutions. We have been presented in here, the opportunity to observe the story or flow with such a soothing grace, and there are only fewer better gifts for the audiences given by the movie.

  3. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

    Good Netflix Movies 2017

And it’s not quite often that you will get to watch such a huge movie on Netflix this soon after it was released worldwide. So, let us think this as our good fortune and enjoy this opportunity!!

With a plethora of movies on Marvel Studio, many people believe that it is reaching the adolescence phase if not the maturity. If you think that there is nothing in Marvel’s pocket that will bring you to the edge of your seat, here’s a bang – Captain America: Civil War. Tired of the same platitudinous story where a superhero saves the world (or to be precise, America) by kicking out some bad-ass villain? The answer is simply Captain America: Civil War. The action in the movie is more arousing than anything that you are probably going to get from all but lost action thrillers these days. You can always expect the MCU movies to be banter-packed which will take you to the era of screwball comedies. How cool is it to have a hilarious superhero like Iron Man (or is it just because of Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) who acts as the Captain? At the end of the movie, you are probably going to feel as if your parents have broken out and you need to choose a side!

And this Avengers Movie brings together a lot of characters – you may like Antman, Black Panther (awesome) but you will love Spider-Man, the recent addition to the squad. Though Hulk and Thor are maybe on vacation, but this movie is power-packed all the way. There are no unnecessary distractions that are related to characters and source matter which adds to the beauty of the plot. Captain America: Civil War is the beginning of something huge in the Marvel Universe because at the end you can only be on one team – Team Cap? Or Team Iron Man?

And it’s not quite often that you will get to watch such a huge movie on Netflix this soon after it was released worldwide. So, let us think this as our good fortune and enjoy this opportunity!!

  4. The Graduate (1967)

    Good Netflix Movies 2016

If you are planning to skip this one just by seeing the release date, you are going to miss one of the premier and the most influential movies ever made. The Graduate is one of the funniest movies for all the free spirit and point of view shown not because of obvious sight gags, punchlines, and other trite rubbish most comic movies proudly presents. Mike Nichols, the director, stays on top of his materials; he never stops to make sure if the viewers are getting the point and he never apologizes. In pursuing this simple but direct storyline, that has been decorated with the delectable incidents and sizzling dialogues; the always-exploring Nichols has done surprising things with the actors such that the overall picture is extensive and revealing. One powerful thing about this movie is that the funny incidents do not occur in the movie — they are the movie!!

Reserved Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) gets back to home from college as the graduated fresher but with an uncertain future (Yeah, that happens with almost all the graduates). Then the wife of the business partner of his father, the utterly sexy Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), entices him, and this affair only intensifies his confusion. Finally, he meets his dream girl Elaine (Katherine Ross), but there’s one catch: she is Mrs. Robinson’s daughter! Benjamin’s perspicacious honesty and awkwardness are so accurately displayed that we will hardly know if to laugh at him or to peep inside ourselves.

  5. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)

    Movies to Watch on Netflix

It has been a little over than a decade when Disney’s theme park ride-based movie came into the market but is still one of the greatest adventure movies. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is a notorious alcoholic Pirate cum Rockstar in this movie and he simply steals this show (of course, the lock, stock and who could forget that two floating barrels), but Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa is another character that was front and center in the movie. The film delivers hilariously mumbled one-liners combined with the playful sword-play and one of the most glaring zombie effects seen till date which makes the movie eternally watchable. Gore Verbinski’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is grand not only regarding sword fights and the top-notch cast but also the plot is honestly brilliant, and you will feel like you have had one of your best adventures of two-and-a-half-hour.

Captain Jack Sparrow arrives without a ship or crew at Port Royal in the Caribbean but at an inopportune time, for a pirate ship besieging the town later in that evening. These pirates captured Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), the daughter of the governor because she possesses a valuable coin which is linked with a curse of transforming the pirates into the undead. A brave blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) who is in love with Elizabeth join forces with Sparrow to pursue the pirates.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl sweeps the viewers into a quest unlike any other through a gorgeous damsel in distress, a spunky rogue as her saviour, and a different unit of bloodthirsty swashbucklers to provide the aura.

  6. Sing Street (2016)

    Whats Good on Netflix

If you are in a mood for a complete feel-good movie, then you don’t have to go any further because here is a film with perfect such atmosphere – Sing Street. The plot is set in the 80s where the Director and Screenplay writer John Carney follows an Irish boy who forms a band just to impress a girl. In their journey of writing original music, they cover the broad trends of that decade – with songs which sound like Duran Duran and like The Cure. Sing Street is a story about young love and finding out who you are without separating oneself from the harsh realities of life. The songs in here are genuinely great, and the performances are incredible (you cannot miss Lucy Boynton in here).

It also represents the musical environment in the 80s where you Rock n Roll was a risk, a risk of being ridiculed, and this perfectly describes the scenario for a sweet and spirited dramedy like this. You will watch this movie once but will come back again, just for the songs which will further establish rock n roll as a religion. The ending of the movie is very remarkable, and if you can watch this movie without smiling then, I am afraid to break this out to you that you don’t have a heart. Sorry!

  7. About Elly (2009- Iran, 2015- USA)

    Watch Best Movies on Netflix

This movie took six long years to make its way to the USA in 2015, but the wait is worth it because the movie is extraordinary in every way. Asghar Farhadi, the Oscar winner for directing A Separation, strips down almost every element in the movie to keep only the human characters in the primary focus. About Elly are an honest and realistic movie beyond belief and absolutely a must-watch for all you people no matter where you are.  The perfect performances from all the characters and an unparalleled talent of the director make About Elly interesting at times, devastating and thrilling at others, but at all times, it will feel amicable to you because it is so humane and real.

A group of relatives and old friends reunites for a vacation in northern Iran where one of them brings a new person Elly hoping that she would marry Ahmad, one of the friends. After Elly vanishes from the place without any notice, the group is exposed to the unexpected levels; the film finally poses complicated but profound questions about politics, gender, and the modern-day delicate balance in the society.

  8. Zootopia (2016)

    Top Rated Movies Netflix

Zootopia may look like another humanized animal adventure is rather more vivid and sharper with an idea on class and race in America (don’t you think it has been more of a hot topic recently?). The movie is adorable and filled with lively reimagination of tender friendships, sloth jokes, and pop music interludes.

Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), the first rabbit in the police force, quickly digests how hard it is to implement the law in Zootopia, the mammal metropolis. Because she had to prove herself, she jumps at the chance to solve a weird case but unfortunately for her (and luckily for us), she had to work with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a clever fox who makes this job even harder. Their journey together represents every public conversation that we are having at the recent times, and that is why this movie is so heavy. At a time when animal stories have been thought to have lost their charm, Disney dared to defy this with a vibrant and diverse universe of Zootopia for tackling the racial and biased issues of the modern world; the movie is entertaining as well as thought-provoking. Pliable kids and progressive adults will both take away something from this funny and gorgeous movie.

  9. Requiem for a Dream (2000)

    Watch Best Movies

Darren Aronofsky, the director, is known for his many talents, but what he has shown through Requiem for a Dream is that he is also magnificent at putting together the throbbing and powerful sequences in the movie that are acute enough to give the viewers a nervous breakdown. An obsession drives the characters in here, and following them on this story can be a harrowing experience. Requiem for a Dream is all about the drug addiction and devastating effects it can have on our psyches and our bodies. Jared Leto (you know the Joker? Yes, right, there can be only one Joker, and you all know who I am talking about), and Jennifer Connelly are good in their roles of drug-addicted couples, but Ellen Burstyn nails her role as the mother; a prisoner in her apartment and someone who is cut in between her diet pills (you may also observe that she is addicted to the TV and sugar, however.) – her performance is absolutely electric, haunting, and unforgettable.

Aronofsky uses the camera to fascinatingly capture how the characters see things, and this is very much comparable to Hitchcock, where it is not only important to show us the things but also to deny the others. At one moment, we are thrust into subjective state and immediately in the next moment; we are plunged back to objectivity by a cold splash of reality. Requiem for a Dream is a movie to be watched, you may have been told that it is a film which you can handle to watch only once, but Nah, there is so much awesome filmmaking in here that you can always have an immense pleasure by revisiting the misery shown here.

  10. Saving Private Ryan (1998)

    Best Flims on Netflix

Saving Private Ryan is clearly one of the best war movies to have been ever made where director Steven Spielberg amalgamates realistically anxious war footage with a moving human story. The movie sets us through the provoking terrors of battle but drives us to realize the humanness, coming through the horror. The greatness of this marvelous movie is that it makes us greatly care about the characters and remind us that there is no honor in the war, only death.

Saving Private Ryan doesn’t lie or glorify the combat, the feel-good feeling, through Tom Hanks who plays the central role of an army captain pursuing the missing paratrooper and the terrible nightmare of the war through the unforgettable graphic portrayal of the Normandy takeover.

  11. Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008)

    Watch Best Movies

Dear Zachary is a letter, a present postmarked to the son Zachary of late Mr. Andrew Bagby, by his friend Kurt Kuenne, the director, so that he could know about his father whom he could never see. Dear Zachary is a documentary that will put you through the waves of human emotions, and without even realizing the teardrops will have rolled through your eyes.

The 28-year-old Californian, Dr. Andrew Bagby was shot brutally by his ex-girlfriend Ms. Shirley Turner in 2001 at a park in Pennsylvania after following their breakup. The then-pregnant Turner was released on bail and later gave birth to Zachary. The grandparents wanted the custody of Zachary, and the struggle shown is heart-pinching, Dear Zachary fits the story in this documentary through the interviews of people knowing Bagby and some of the home videos archived, as a gift for Zachary. When everything was just going right for the grandparents who wanted the custody, a heartbreak nightmare strikes them.

You need to watch this movie right now because you are not getting out as the same person who was going into it after you watch this movie. The recommendation for this movie is never going to be enough. Wanting few more on Netflix originals? Check our new Netflix Originals category.

If someone says Comedy is quite probably the most difficult genre to create just because it is subjective, duh bro! all forms of arts are subjective. It may have been tagged so because it needs to click the right subject matter to tackle the most difficult emotion in the human – a smile. The timing of the plot, which on the one hand should be unusual and on the other hand must be quite relatable and familiar to the audience, must be perfect. Because a lag in one scene can just get the movie drop from the list of good comedy movies to some lame movies. Jim Carrey can rock romantic movie genre but imagine Robert Pattison doing comedy movie, what a disaster it would be (not that he is any good in romantic movies too. Come on girls, hate me for this!!). Did you check the updated list of best Romantic movies on Netflix?

There are a lot of comedies on Netflix, but not all of these Netflix comedies are up to the mark. We have gone through Netflix library for bringing a superb collection of comedy movies 2020 that you should watch right now. So, just leave us the task of digging deep into Netflix and enjoy this list of Top Comedy Movies on Netflix.

Top 11 Most Watched Funny Movies on Netflix

  1. In the Loop (2009)

    Best Comedy Movies on Netflix

If witty verbal comedy were easy, there would have been more movies like In the Loop. But since it is not, this movie stands out as a class of its own. One of the most quotable comedy movies on Netflix by miles and the cynically disgusting mouths on screen seem so lucid and creative that, when the avalanche of Zinger ends, what you are left with is the persisting sense of not only watching a funny movie but also a wickedly awesome political mockery of the utmost order, one where the absurdity expresses itself. And as for the plot, Malcolm Tucker stands out as a character which America needed to see for itself, and this acute look at the George Bush and Tony Blair epoch is clearly one of the best comedy movies out on Netflix and must not be missed.

  2. Superbad (2007)

    Comedies On Netflix

Not everyone forgets theirs’ not-so-golden days of high school embarrassments, and here comes Superbad to perfectly distil that awkward feeling into one insanely crazy night. Skyrocketing the film career of Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, and Emma Stone, the movie follows teen boys in their quest to acquire some liquors, increase their party credibility, and of course get into a little action.

    [adinserter block=”4″]

The characters Seth, Evans and of course McLovin’ lit up the movie and establish this as one of the top teen comedy films.

  3. Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil (2010)

    Comedy Movies 2017

Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil is an indie comedy and has briskly become a cult classic in horror comedy genre, turning the usual horror tropes in bloody hilarious ways. Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk play the role of two bumbling hillbillies who gets dragged into an ordeal milieu when a bunch of salacious coeds believes they are trying to murder them. In a string of happenings that quickly escalates in violence, the two characters – Tucker and Dale, strive to do the proper thing while still managing to stay alive in this process. Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil is a covert treasure waiting to be unearthed by those who are hunting for an off-the-beat comedy. So, hurry up and watch this awesome Netflix comedy.

  4. Dazed and Confused (1993)

    Good Comedy Movies

Dazed and Confused by Richard Linklater is a doting observation of the olden era’s youth culture into 1976, where the delights of the pot smoking, beer blasts, and Frampton Comes Alive is celebrated. The film sets on the final day of the school and follows the erratic activities of a rambling group of high schoolers from Texas as they party hard to mark the arrival of summer. The cast of this epically good comedy movie consists who’s who of hot young actors like Ben Affleck, Parker Posey, Joey Lauren Adams, Milla Jovovich, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Goldberg, Renée Zellweger – those who were completely unknown at that time. But what a way to pull off their careers!!

  5. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

    Netflix Comedies

The Coen brothers (Ethan and Joel; the directors) have a skillful way of bringing absurdity and blunt reality into balance, but on O Brother, Where Art Thou? They incline more towards the absurdity. The plot retells the story of The Odyssey soaked with a heavy shot of bluegrass in the Great Depression era and stars George Clooney whose modern-times Odysseus flees from a chain group with two other cons (John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson). Their journey along the Deep South and entails is presented in this master-work of strangeness, lushness, and cleverness, and as far as the performances go – Clooney has never been this charming in a weirdly funny role, after all, he is thought to be a man of continual sorrow.

  6. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

    Top Comedy Movies on Netlix

It’s not quite often when just a name can conjure up nostalgia for an entire decade but honestly, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off might just be the stereotypical 80s movies. Matthew Broderick is able to broach into the inner renegade inside every one of us through his Ferris by shattering the fourth wall in order to speak directly to his audience. Even if you find yourself more relatable to Sloan (Mia Sara) or Cameron (Alan Ruck), deep down, you would still want to be Ferris, for he can’t-lose attitude and harum-scarum approach to life, everything that we wished to be when we were just in our teens. One of the funniest scripts of John Hughes Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is always a good option for another watch, and with Netflix bringing to us this good comedy movie, one must not just skip this one.

  7. The Big Short (2015)

    Top Comedy Movies on Netflix

There were some questions raised when Adam McKay decided to make a genuinely hilarious movie on the financial crisis of the 2000s. Of all the stories that could have been extracted from this melancholy, he chose funny ones. Literally the funny ones. Big Short erases all the doubts if any sharp comedy movies could thrive in the modern megaplexes through its Oscar-winning screenplay, an avant-garde structure, and a talented cast. It is a perfect kind of comedy movie which will not require you to switch off your brain, rather encourages you not to. One of the must-watch good comedy movies on Netflix lately!

  8. Hot Fuzz (2007)

Best Funny Movies on Netflix 2017

Although Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have acted together many times under director Edgar Wright creating movies of universal excellence, Hot Fuzz clearly stands above all. Because there is something about the movie like its passionate love letter to and hilarious parody of other classic action movies, it stands out. Simon Pegg has never been as awesome as Nicolas Angel, a London police who is compelled to take charge in a small village of Sanford. Soon after, he finds out that the hapless mishaps that keep occurring in the town are no mishaps at all, and this leads to a bloody deadlock between him and others who have a twisted way of retaining “greater goods”. Hot Fuzz is made by action movie lovers for action movie lovers in a comedically master way. So, just turn on your device, log in to your account and watch this Netflix comedy.

  9. In Bruges (2008)

    Netflix Funny Movies

Martin McDonagh’s debut movie In Bruges stars two hit-men from Dublin who is sent to the best-preserved medieval city in Belgium, Bruges to seek refuge, two weeks after their work goes very wrong. The visual appeal in the movie complements the contemptuous and hilariously funny dialogues for giving one fine dark-horse dramedy. In Bruges is boundlessly astonishing, very dark, awesomely humorous and having a plot that can only be relished. Not every time you find a movie like this, which gets driven by the weirdness of the characters, so better, watch this funny movie when it is available on Netflix.

  10. Groundhog Day (1993)

    Best Funny Movies

Director and co-writer Harold Ramis, screenwriter Danny Rubin and actor Bill Murray take an extremely good comedic premise to find a surprising profundity. An egocentric weatherman gets glued to experience February 2 repeatedly, and the story revolves around him handling the situation. Groundhog Day is a comedy movie that provokes American people from middle-class milieu to better themselves, and it doesn’t just prompt laughter but also moves the audiences so deeply than they ever expected. It is that kind of movie which finds its purpose so precisely that you have to look deep into the movie to find its geniuses. One of the best comedy movies on Netflix so, you cannot miss out on this one!!

  11. The Princess Bride (1987)

    Funny Movies on Netflix

We could not think of anything that has not been said already about The Princess Bride. Although the movie has had a disappointing theatrical release, it is one of the most perfectly effectuated conversions of a dearest book into a dearest movie. The movie provides a classic twist to the classic fairy tale of the love story between Buttercup (Robin Wright) and Wesley (Cary Elwes), the revenge of Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), and various Sicilians, Giants, and mind-blowing machines. The movie is literally a story narrated by a grandfather (Peter Falk) to his sick grandson (Fred Savage) and is a limitlessly romantic, clever, quotable, and funny movie. With pitch-perfect acting by all the cast, The Princess Bride is one of the funny movies on Netflix which gets better and better with every visit.

We rest our list of top comedy movies on Netflix, but it’s likely that we may have missed out some of your favorite funny movies. So, we would like you to mention those movies in the comment section below and let us know.

11 Top Rated Movies on Netflix Streaming Now

  1. Cinderella Man (2005)

    Top Rated Movies on Netflix

Cinderella Man, the epic story of boxer James J. Braddock who leaped up to the fame in the mid-1930s as an underdog in the sports. James Braddock (Russel Crowe) is a boxer who is trying to support the family but is forced to eschew his boxing career after he breaks his hand. At the time, when work was hard to come by, and the wages were also low, Braddock gets back into the ring as a mere underdog and continues to move up through the ranks and finally reaching the ultimate apex in the career later. The remarkable thing during both the highs and lows in Braddock life is that he remains a level-headed guy with a gentle disposition and faithful concern for his family above all. Maybe, a tough guy like Crowe is all that it takes to make the best of Braddock believable. Mae (Renée Zellweger) is just the perfect love he deserves, filled with loyalty and love, but so terrified his husband will be hurt that she declines to spectate his fights and even won’t listen to the radio. Braddock was given the nickname “Cinderella Man” for his unlikely feat against Max Baer, the then Heavyweight champion. Cinderella Man is a story of a person who rises from the dust to achieve something phenomenal and defying all the odds in the process. It is a story of sorrow, struggle and is recognized as one of the best, if not the best movie of 2005. Personally speaking, this one is a good movie to watch for the story it contains and the powerful, yet the emotional performance of Russel Crowe.

  2. The Sixth Sense (1999)

    Movies to Watch 2017

Just a confession to make before this starts – I see dead people. Seriously? No, just kidding. The Sixth Sense which later turned out to be the breakthrough performance of M. Night Shyamalan as a writer and director who had only completed two other movies before this, but neither even close to as famous as The Sixth Sense. It is the story of a little kid, outcast Cole who sees and interacts with dead people, ghosts as you would like us to say. He had to visit a child psychologist regularly to help himself understand and deal with his visions. Superficially, The Sixth Sense is a creepy, freaky movie, at least in its premise but once you are into the plot, it is hardly about the ghosts. It is more about the characters of those with unresolved problems who are trying to perceive each other. It has one of the best plot twists on the movie – make sure you don’t google it because there are spoilers everywhere!

    [adinserter block=”4″]

The Sixth Sense was nominated for six Oscars in 2000 but were up against some stiff competition – the only reason we can think of why it didn’t win one. And as always Bruce Willis has done a pretty good job in his role.

  3. Good Will Hunting (1997)

    Movies 2017 List

Written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, two practically unknown writers/actors at the time, Good Will Hunting puts Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on the map through their quantum leap role as best friends. In the movie, Matt Damon stars as Will who is a troubled janitor at MIT in his early 20’s and stuck in blue-collar life with Chuckie Sullivan (Ben Affleck). Good Will Hunting is a story of a self-taught boy capable of solving one of the world’s most difficult algorithm posted by the Math’s Professor for his graduate students while he was working his night shift at the college. The professor wants him to study Mathematics in MIT but as he was on the wrong side of his tracks, had to consult an oft-clichéd psychologist and professor at Bunker Hill Community College, Sean Maguire (Robin Williams), after multiple failed treatments from other therapists because of Will’s ego and attitude. After weeks of his work, Sean is ultimately able to break down the barriers in Will’s attitude, persuading Will to love, trust and aim towards new goals which he quickly realizes later. The movie covers quite outstandingly the heart-pinching field like childhood abuse and heartbreak, the witty banter and humor are also equally memorable, however. Good Will Hunting did outstanding business both domestically and overseas – a movie with a budget of 10 Million dollars bagged 225 Million dollars worldwide. The movie was nominated for nine Academy Awards and bagged two of them despite being against Titanic, probably the best movies of the 90s. No shame here!

Robin Williams does wonder once again in his role and grabbed Oscars for his supporting role, and Ben Affleck and Matt Damon won it for their original screenplay – what a start for these virtually unknown. The movie is effortlessly pleasing and never overwrought.

For those who have not seen Good Will Hunting, well congratulations! You have got yourself a plan for tonight. Robin Williams – gone but never forgotten. Rest in Peace!!

  4. Inglourious Basterds

    Netflix Movie List 2017

Directed and written by the great but controversial Quentin Tarantino, this movie Inglourious Basterds interlaces two stories of vengeance against the Nazis during the World War II in France which was then occupied by Germans. Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) steers a group of few American Jews through the countryside in France, killing the German forces and Nazis on the way. Meanwhile, a French theatre owner, Shosanna (Melanie Laurent) plays to murder Nazi leaders. At the same time, Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) who is well known as the “Jew Hunter” around the area, tries to hunt down the Aldo Raine and his team. Inglourious Basterds has paved the path for the rise of Christoph Waltz, or is it? It can be clearly seen that the process is mutual. Tarantino has set up a very good story in Inglourious Basterds, but without Waltz’s weird, vindictive and quirky nature this would just be another ordinary movie. But, this is Tarantino, he doesn’t create ordinary movies, right? (three more Tarantino movies are listed in Best Action Movies on Netflix in another section, make sure you visit that too.)

Inglourious Basterds is a violent movie, and times you (if you are faint-hearted) may want to look away but come on, this is Tarantino, he is best at what he does, and he does it most of the times. And a little more to add, he, however, go over the top so that the fighting and violent scenes are moved to the point where it is funny.

This movie was nominated for eight Oscars at the Academy Awards in 2010 where Waltz was able to grab the Oscars for Best Supporting Actor. One hell of a job he did in here!!

  5. Titanic

    Best New Movies Netflix

Here is a movie for you all – Near, far, wherever you are, and for the freaks of ’90s Netflix is pouring all the blessings with classic hits like the films on this list and Titanic, well your prayers of nostalgia have not only been heard but answered as well. Titanic, an epic from James Cameron is one of the highest-grossing movies and does it get better than this? Well, its really very hard to answer that because there might be no answer or let’s just say the answer can simply be NO! to get into some numbers let some numbers put light into the greatness of this movie – Most expensive movie at the time, and a market collection of more than 2 billion dollars worldwide, one of the most critically acclaimed movies in history with 11 Oscars in 1998 among 14 nominations made. James Cameron does an extremely fantastic work of adding some romance and tragedy to the already tragic reality of Titanic, the ‘indestructible’ ship. A love story of Rose (Kate Winslet) and Jack (DiCaprio, yes, the Titanic guy) on the voyage to New York from England is incredible, given the circumstances.

    Jack O Jack!!

This one is a very great movie to watch with your girl but please don’t ask her this – Wasn’t there enough space on that plank for two persons?

  6. The Shining

    Best Films to Watch

The Shining is a psychotropic adjustment of a horror novel of the same name which was written by Stephen King and rumor has this – King hates this altercation because of the director Stanley Kubrick too many liberties on this movie. With a heavy heart, all we can say is sorry to Mr. King because what Kubrick did was shot a classic and probably the best horror movie to have ever been made. In the movie, Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) along with his wife and son moves into one remote hotel to provide guardianship for it over the winter period. Jack who is a writer himself plans to use this quiet time to work on his new book, but after his family gets trapped in the hotel by a terrible snowstorm, the story takes a new turn. The supernatural forces or ghosts haunt the hotel, and this will cause Jack, an alcoholic, to lose his mind. What’s classic in the movie? The ample silence and an oozing sense of trepidation, the director seize the sheer terror of his viewers – the twins, the pages of “All Work and No Play”, the wave of blood, and leaves the clarification deadpan. Jack Nicholson’s growling execution of the dialogues will forever hunt like a hungry wolf. Two words enough to showcase this – Here’s Johnny!

If you haven’t seen this movie already, you have to watch it. This is one of the good movies 2017. It’s really terrific.

  7. No Country for Old Men

    Good Movies to Watch List

Based on a book by Cormac McCarthy of the same name and published in 2005 is this masterly adaptation by Coen Brothers which won four Oscars at the Academy Awards in 2008. The movie starts with the flat and confiding voice of Sheriff Ed Tom (Tommy Lee Jones), where he describes a teenage murderer who killed his 14 years old girlfriend, he once sent for execution. The newspapers described this as a crime of passion, but he tells the sheriff it was more than just passion.

This description which sets up the entire story is what you should never miss in the movie for its perfect delivery containing vocal precision and extraordinary emotions. No Country for Old Men is a violent, gripping, poetic, thrilling and blackly humorous: something that Coen Brothers always do best. Added to this list is humanity which has been an important part of this movie. Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) is a merciless evil man, tall with black hair and a petrifying smile, who carries a tank of compressed air and kills people with a cattle stun gun while travelling through Texas. There are three strands in this twisted plot, Chigurh being one. The next one is Sheriff Ed (Tommy Lee) himself who divulges a master actor at the top of his game, and the third major character is Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) who is a poor man living in his house trailer with his wife. One day while hunting, Moss comes across a failed drug deal where every dealer is dead (and even the dog), he finds a briefcase with more than 2 million dollars and yes, Chigurh is on the hunt for recovering the lost money.

McCarthy reveals in his story a soulless America which is no country for anybody, never mind old men. No Country for Old Men is an in-depth study which is rich with metaphors and details and clearly ranks as one of the best movies of the 21st century.

  8. The Prestige

    Netflix Movies List

The Prestige starts like a camera which is completely out of focus, nothing making any sense, it rolls backwards and forwards through the time like Christopher Nolan, the director is having a Memento flashback. Characters in the movie wander here and there in the plot, and you will feel like this movie will go above your head, then the things start getting more logical. The out of focus movie as it felt earlier starts to become clearer bit by bit and by the end, you will be like – Have I just watched one movie to remember for a long long time? The Prestige is a movie which you will hate before you love it, it is that kind of movie which will make you confused, irritated, frustrated, exasperated but by the time it’s over, you will have all but praise for this movie. The ensemble of this movie is monumental, but Hugh Jackman as Robert Angier and Christian Bale as Alfred Borden shine the brightest as a genius duelling magicians. Both Jackman and Bale had to work on multiple levels but absolutely nailed it through their dynamic performance. There are twists and turns but keeping in mind that this is a story about magicians, it is no shocker (but to be honest, there is no ignominy in being amazed). The entire plot itself is outlined in the inaugurating scene, as John Cutter (Michael Caine) explains the three keys to a good magic trick: “The Pledge”, “The Turn”, and “The Prestige”.

But if the film is only to awestruck the audience, it is like an empty vessel, and The Prestige stands out as one of the most emotionally pacifying films of Nolan. With Angier and Borden, we have two characters who are driven by the sheer desire of becoming successful magicians and truly memorable. Their rivalry grows more desperate and vicious, with the magical skill not only being used to mesmerize the audience but also to wreak havoc on each other and in this journey Nolan expertly transmits the emotional drive for both the character among the audiences.

  9.  Forrest Gump

    Most Watched Movies

At times when you are watching this movie, you may come up with a question – Is there a movie that is more quotable than Forrest Gump? Because almost all the lines from Forrest (Tom Hanks) in the movie are absolutely great quotes. Some of the dialogues from the movie that are forever worthy are: “Stupid is as stupid does.”

“My mama always said, ‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.’”

“I’m not a smart man. But I *know* what love is.”

“Dear God, make me a bird. So, I could fly far. Far far away from here.”

“You have to do the best with what God gave you.”

“I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floatin’ around accidental-like on a breeze. But I, I think maybe it’s both.”

Forest Gump was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards in 1995 and won six of them -one prime reason to why The Shawshank Redemption was restricted to zero Oscars. It is a story of a dim-witted boy who later grows up to make history in an uncanny way, through a series of accidents and coincident paved the way. Forrest Gump is a bittersweet story which interweaves his lasting love for his childhood beloved neighbour, Jenny (Robin Wright), who is shown struggling to find peace with herself amid tempestuous time in American history of the 1960s – a time of psychedelic and civil unrest.

Forrest Gump is still an integral part of the modern pop culture as it was for the 1990s and early 2000s with all those notable quotes and references. We still find it hard to go through one week without someone somewhere making a Forrest Gump reference in our lives. How great is the movie? I guess great enough to have a national restaurant chain like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Named after some character with a minimal role in a movie. Yeah, this great is Forrest Gump!!!

  10. Pulp Fiction

    Top Netflix Movies

If you are wondering why you are not seeing any Tarantino movies on this list, it is because we have included them in other sections (just a hint:3 Tarantino movies in Best Action Movies on Netflix) but as a proof to you all that we still have our minds intact, we have included Pulp Fiction here although it has been featured already in other division, to be honest, we could never miss Tarantino’s greatest accomplishment in this list. No other movie has been able to create its language and folklore of coolness as Pulp Fiction – Tarantino has passed his passion zeal into a collage in this movie, a zeal for being both wickedly funny and unexpectedly thoughtful. John Travolta still crackles, the dialogues still explode and the soundtrack still chants. Pulp Fiction is a comedy about violence, drugs, blood, strange sex, guts, fixed fights, dead body disposal which interweaves four stories of ferocity and exoneration through the stories of two hitmen, a boxer, a gangster’s wife, and a pair of muggers. Even if you have already watched this movie, you still can’t recall what is coming next – such is its nonlinearity. One of the best 154 delightful minutes with no trace of observation, condescendence, and political correctness. Pulp Fiction is an affluently mastered movie of linked crime community – the KING KONG of crime movies to be fair, an absolutely cool movie that will make the top spots in any list of great movies of all time. All hail the master Tarantino!!

  11. The Shawshank Redemption

    Best Movies of 2017

The Shawshank Redemption is adapted from “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption” by Stephen King (Déjà vu? Here’s another one from the writer of “The Shining”.) Screenplay and directed by Frank Darabont is clearly one of the greatest classic movies of all time which create a warm grip on our emotions, for it makes us a member of the family within the story. There are many movies which present to us a vicarious experience and superficial, and quick emotions, but this one here slows down and holds. It utilizes the calm and observant voice of the narrator to embrace us as the part in the story for building a different community behind bars. Every other film seems to be shallow when compared; this story is about the progression in a lifetime which is based on hope and friendship. An interesting thing about the movie is even though that the hero is the convicted murderer Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a former banker, the story is never recognized from his point of view. Opening scenes in the movies shows that Andy have been given two life sentences for killing (?)his wife and her lover, and it is Ellis ‘Red’ Redding (Morgan Freeman) who is our surrogate, he is the one who we identify, and we fall in love with the redemption shown in the movie. There are some very great dialogues in the movie which we can relate very passionately in our life – “I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying” and “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies” just to name a few.

But what’s key to the film structure is that it is not about its main protagonist, but is about our relationship with him, our admiration, our curiosity, and our pity. If Andy was to be the heroic center with some magnanimous charisma, the film would have been a platitudinous one and less gripping. But it makes us wonder about this character – did he really murdered those people? Why is he so introvert? Why can he stroll like a free man around the prison yard, when every other person in there is plodding and creeping? Nominated for seven Oscars in 1995 but successful in none but is clearly the greatest movie to miss out on Oscars. Most of you must have already watched this movie but is a recent addition to Netflix and if you haven’t watched it then, well here is a chance. Grab it!

What a year 1994 seems, for it has top 3 movies in this list competing for the top spot! I might as well start my Time Machine to get myself back to the year to relive the moment as they happen!!

Here we end our list of all-time classics and top rated movies on Netflix to watch in 2016-2017 or let’s be honest at any time (Provided it is still available on Netflix). We have already mentioned that as the list is to include only eleven movies, we have left out some of the really great movies but we are sure that they are covered in other sections of ours. Do not forget to check Best of Netflix Original Movies. But if we have missed any of the deserving ones in this list, please, let us know your views on the comment section.
