This gorgeous series is a snapshot into the lives of three friends who for various reasons have chosen to live in the idyllic small town they grew up in. This is a tale of female friendship where their gal pals are actually each other’s first priority. There are men that come and go, but Margarita Night is forever. And these women are accomplished and successful and they do things for each other and for the community.
Maddie (JoAnne Garcia,) Dana Sue (Brooke Elliot) and Helen (Heather Headly) all have separate careers and lives, but decide to come together to restore the house of a woman that was always there for them growing up. The series is built around the restoration and birth of this new business, supposed to rivive the town and give Maddie another chance after her divorce.
One must suspend belief about the ex star baseballer happening to move to town, and that the women seem blissfully oblivious to the men trying to catch their eye, and that the dangerous, thieving employee never gets arrested but that’s the sweet magnolias – they glide on through.
This series is a blueprint for how to do friendship throughout the trials and tribulations of life. It’s a blueprint for hard work, rising above, giving people a chance and being civil with your ex-husbands new wife.
