Early life and education

Kwak was born on March 19, 1997, in Daejeon, South Korea. At the early age of 13, he moved to Seoul all by himself to chase his dream of becoming an artist. Since 2010, he began studying music at FNC Academy alongside acting. In 2013, he finished his studies at Munroe Junior High School. Three years later, Kwak graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul.

Kwak Dong-yeon made his on-screen debut in 2012 by appearing in the drama series My Husband Got a Family. With his debut series, he got an early taste of success by receiving the Best Young Actor at the Korea Drama Awards (2012).
Since then, his popularity began growing gradually by featuring in several movies and series like Adolescence Medley, Inspiring Generation, Come Back Mister, Misbehavior, Man of Will, and others. In 2019, Kwak starred as the leading role in the family drama Never Twice. Later that year, he made a cameo appearance on Netflix’s popular romantic-drama series It’s Okay to Not be Okay.
Family
Kwak Dong-yeon has an older sibling. Unfortunately in 2014, his mother died due to an illness just after finishing the promotion of his drama series Inspiring Generation.
