Netflix errors are common among Netflix users around the globe.  These errors are caused due to connectivity issues and software or hardware problems. However, if you are experiencing the Netflix Unexpected error on your computer, we’ve got you covered. 

You may also have noticed that you get a message saying, “Whoops, something went wrong.. Unexpected Error.” This error typically indicates that you need to refresh the information stored on your web browser. 

In this article, we will guide you to fix the Netflix unexpected error on your desktop web browser. Here’s how. 

How to fix Netflix unexpected error?

Chrome 

Clear cached images and files on your Chrome browser.

  1. Click on the three-dot icon at the top right corner. 
  2. Select More tools and then Clear browsing data…
  3. Open the Advanced tab at the top. 
  4. Set the Time Range to All time. 
  5. Make sure to only check Cached images and files. 
  6. Click on the Clear Data button. 
  7. Now, try streaming on Netflix.

Firefox

Important: Refreshing Firefox will remove any modification made to the browsers, including extensions, themes, site permission, and toolbar customization. 

  1. Click on the ≡ icon at the upper right corner of the app window. 
  2. Select Help from the dropdown menu. 
  3. Select Troubleshooting information. 
  4. Click on the Refresh Firefox… button. 
  5. Once the Firefox is refreshed, try streaming on Netflix. 

Microsoft Edge

Clear Netflix cookie 

  1. Go to netflix.com/clearcookies. Now, you will be signed out of your Netflix account. 
  2. Now, sign in to your account and try streaming on Netflix. 

Clear browsing data

  1. Click on the three-dot icon at the top right corner. 
  2. Select History and then Clear browsing data. 
  3. Set the Time Range to All time. 
  4. Ensure all boxes are checked and click on Clear now. 
  5. Now, try streaming on Netflix. 

Safari

Enable cookies in Safari. 

  1. From the Safari menu, choose Preferences. 
  2. Choose Privacy. 
  3. Under Cookies and website data, unmark the Block all cookies checkbox. If you don’t find Block all cookies, mark the Allow from websites I visit checkbox. 
  4. Now, try streaming on Netflix. 

Additional troubleshooting for Netflix unexpected error

Restart your computer

Various issues on your computer can be resolved by a simple restart, and it might also solve the Netflix unexpected error. Restart your computer and try streaming Netflix. 

Restart your home network

If none of the above didn’t solve the issue, it might your home network that preventing you to connect to Netflix. 

  1. Turn off your modem/router and unplug the power for at least a minute.
  2. Now, plug the power in and turn on your modem/router. 
  3. Wait until the lights on your modem/router blink stably and try streaming Netflix.
